OTOH, I do really enjoy how people hiring for the same team often can't even agree on the sign of bad filters.
In all the examples you gave, A was the choice 95+% would agree on. So it's not really like there is practically any debate going on here
ie you will find very little debate in practice about hiring based on high gpa, good school, and relevant experience.
I think you might be in a bubble. I have had friends shot down for perfect gpa (must be a robot).
On one team, someone argued against college recruiting from top schools because our best people were from no-name schools
I think that argument basically worked since we only recruited from state schools, and I don't mean places like Berkeley.
A neighbor team at that company also didn't want experienced people because of the concern that they'd have bad habits
