we forget everything we don't use/need regularly. the list is even more expansive than "what most programmers have ever known"

Depends on how deeply you're expected to "know" it. You probably only need enough to be able to Google constructively

Formal methods is a huge field and for 99% of people demanding they learn theorem provers is condescending and pointless.
