So your argument is that if someone hasn't been hired before because of their race or gender, the fact that they've been discriminated-

-against previously is reason enough to not hire them. Thus continuing the cycle of hiring only mediocre white guys. There's no logic there.

I have no argument (or side in this). I'm asking what is the rationale for setting policy that encourages positive discrimination.

I read that piece but it seems to me anything but an argument in favor of "positive discrimination." What am I missing?

The claim isn't explicit b/c of the context, but the claim is that the term positive discrimination is intellectual sleight of hand.

When people refer to positive discrimination the unstated and unsupported claim is that the baseline state is no discrimination
