This is bullshit. I open 6GB+ files with vim on a daily basis.

To be noted the test was done on a 4G machine. Vim uses ~2x the size of the file in mem. A 3GB file would run out and crash vim.

Emacs has lots of perf problems with long lines. I bet it would load 30m x 100-char lines no problem...

Yes, loads in approx 15 seconds. Though it loaded my test 3m x 1K lines file no problem too! - took about 10 seconds. Emacs 25.2, 2015 MBP.

Why will you edit a 3gb file with an editor? You process it with command line utilities if need be.
