That appears to be the single largest factor, but labor force participation for prime-age men (and to a lesser extent, women) is decreasing.
Additionally, labor force participation has actually increased for 55-64 and 65+, which seems to indicate that it's gotten harder to retire.

That’s also true, mostly because we’re living longer. There are tons of other endogenous vars here that economists painstakingly isolate.
