User studies on old Google, where ads were more different from real results, found that many users confused ads with real results.
Since then, Google has made ads look more like search results. That's been great for revenue&profit. Not so great for most users, though.
they're both pretty bad on iOS.
What do you recommend? I've tried Safari; open in new tab is too slow for me to use, which kills my browsing workflow
I don't think that's how App Store ad buys work. You pay per impression, and AAPL puts you where it thinks you belong.
Oh that's interesting. I wonder why those chose that model. Non-targeted ads seem unfashionable nowadays.
