Half of the papers I read that purport to be about production systems are actually about fatally flawed prototypes that never really worked.
The paper makes untrue claims and the public claims about the project are half untrue, although there's actually real value too.

That's certainly better than some of our papers/projects, where the idea was fundamentally broken, but it's pretty far from ideal.
