Just talked to someone who was warned off from adding a cache to a system before it blew up because that wouldn't make for a good promo case

talked off as in, fix perf instead of adding complexity by introing cache, or as in, wait till it blows up, you'll look better?

The latter -- wait for it to blow up, which it's expected to do (which is why the person wanted to add the cache).
