I can't tell if devs are overpaid or not. When I look at the comp packages people are getting (often mid 6-figs), pay seems absurdly high.

there's also some science that above ca. $75k/y it tends to not really increase your happiness anymore.

Of course dev pay is a supply/demand curve and not a value-added curve. Value added is a secondary factor of demand.

calculating using revenue seems the wrong metric. Value-added/profit more convincing.

pay isn't tied to amt of value created or saved. A doctor's pay isn't tied to the value of lives saved. Just market forces.
