But then I look at how much money one single dev can save a company and I wonder if devs are underpaid?
I can't tell if devs are overpaid or not. When I look at the comp packages people are getting (often mid 6-figs), pay seems absurdly high.

where are you getting your numbers from? 500,000k seems high even for California.

$300 to $600 seems to be above average but not abnormal, and not just in CA.

10k a year. Anecdotal... but still. And in Europe mid 5 figs is the norm. More is rare.
