I’m in a place where I can find out which papers are bogus, but I wonder what grad students do?
Half of the papers I read that purport to be about production systems are actually about fatally flawed prototypes that never really worked.

Just saw CMU professor cite a bogus paper on HN to defend against vaporware claims. I was worried about students but this also hurts profs.

If I had to guess, I'd bet on it being aimed at the people who hand out promotions and bonuses rather than competitors.
