Frustrating to see more PR about great management at Google when that contrasts so sharply with what I hear from many who work/worked there.

The percentage of people I know who've had really horrendous experiences is not much different from anywhere else

I mostly object to the "we've used science to solve people" narrative, which I regard as recruiting (at best).

I do think that Google is relatively good at eliminating a lot of mundane "dumb" bad stuff, though.

Could you elaborate somewhere on the sorts of horrendous experiences, and also on the sorts of bad stuff eliminated?
