I have nothing against devs who do some or all of those, but that's an extremely noisy filter.

That's because most of the hiring process, from initial screening to final decisions, is driven by emotion rather than logic or exp.

This emotional process has some bad side effects in who it filters, shows up in gender/race/age balance.
