On slide 12 we have the oft-repeated (and groan-inducing) "x86 translates into internal RISC instructions" ... a few slides after the (much less revisionist) claim that RISC was a _counter-movement_ to heavily microcoded machines.
I want to be educated; please give context for those of us who don’t know the right way to think about RISC!
"Regular"-ISC (as in streamlined structure/shape of instructions) is a better way to describe it than the misleading term "reduced", but it is difficult to measure in a single unit. This is alluded to in "Part 1" of the writeup by JM.
