No doubt @Microsoft had some really bad acts back in the days. But I think (or at least hope) they have understood this is not a path for success. This incident is close to 9 years ago and they got a new CEO 5 years ago. MSFT seems to have shifted quite a bit in those years.

MS has changed their approach in recent years...Hope things are better now... Or still... it could be that the way they handled these issues might be one of the reasons why SandboxEscaper is having a nervous breakdown.
They may say they have changed but the evidence suggests otherwise. It's still "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" every single time.
Their old attitude highlighted above is exactly why everyone's glad Microsoft has changed
