The question I'd personally have if I was considering a "big" (in physical size) vehicle purchase (and wanted to optimize for resource usage) would be something like, if you compare an X to an Accord, what's the delta in resource usage?
The X probably has lower emissions and maybe burns less fuel when you account for the total energy cycle. But it's also much heavier and took more resources to create, and we don't currently have a good way to recycling parts of the battery AFAIK, so we're using up Li.
Do these cancel out or is one of these "better"? I haven't tried to figure this out because I think this is a really non-trivial calculation, but I guess I find it weird that people (most that I know) just assume the Tesla is better w.r.t to this. I don't think that's obvious?
