A thought I've had a few times about Lambda School, as a father: "Hmm either I could pay for a child's education or I could pay for Lambda School, living expenses for a year, a one-year trip to any major world city, *and* $100k of seed funding to first startup/house/etc."

I don't think this is super surprising in general since a colleague at a tech company is much more likely to be a future professional contact than a fellow student at school, even for a hypothetical student at a specialized engineering school.

In my experience direct to workforce high school graduates tend to be more motivated, have a better idea of what they want to do with their lives and are not really representative of the modal high school graduate.
