Well, if Anandtech results replicate, it seems 16-core Threadripper 2950X is the thing to go for build server. It appears that some benchmarks perform *much* worse on Windows and that Anandtech tested on Windows. Varies by benchmark, but there can be over a 2x difference. I'm curious about compiles, don't see a good cross-platform compile result out there.
Yeah, Phoronix did the Linux kernel compiles (on Linux, obviously) here: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd-linux-2990wx&num=6 … -- and 2990WX looks better here. Still, I would like to have more compilation tests too. Especially OpenJDK C++ compilation :)
