If you're curious about the actual rate, it's been about 1 repo per second since the first story hit HN, mid-day Sunday in the US. That's probably nbd for github, but it's multiple orders of magnitude higher than the normal import rate for gitlab, which is well under 1/minute.

Now that Microsoft develops VS code and owns GitHub I like them more than Google which annoys everybody with ads.

I'll take ads on the web any-day over ads on the OS. Its a sad thought that Win7 is going to be out of support in a few years, and that so many people were duped into upgrading because it was 'free'.
