you either have an inordinately large NRx follower base or they didn't really think it through. Maybe people should be reminded about the endless religious wars, church inquisition, and an economy on the brink of starvation on every odd numbered year.
I'm sure you're a more learned historian than I am but this doesn't sit right with me. What would you call Medieval inquisitions like the persecution of the Cathars or the excommunication of the Waldensians?

I call them horrible, obviously. But when we speak of "THE Inquisition" we ordinarily are referring to the Spanish Inquisition, which was much more permanent and far-reaching.

alright. I mostly just wanted to point out that the medieval Church had enormous political power (and wielded it ruthlessly) in a way that we would find intolerable with our late modern values. I was surprised how many people opted for Medeivalism.

I understand your point. But I have found that most of what we think about the Middle Ages and the Church in that time period is misleading mythology. This is apart from the question of which social system you would prefer.
