why is donald glover (no shade) being credited with being the "true" kanye when that has literally been kendrick's whole career

the entire discourse around that is profoundly racist. looks like a lot of people trying to nominate their preferred HNIC.

Yep it's hella dumb (although I believe the original tweet was made by a black woman) (and I've definitely compared other artists to Kanye in terms of political savvyiness, it's the "there can be only one" aspect that's weird)

the original tweet being made by a black person just reveals that the systemic racism is really systemic, and not just individual prejudices or outgroup hatred. 'Ye breaks the mold so he has to be "put in his place". There's no room for multiple molds of a famous black musician?

The one I saw was "Donald Glover is doing what Kanye thinks he is doing," which is what I was saying about To Pimp A Butterfly and Yeezus two years ago

Butterfly was a revolutionary album in terms of artistic merit. Kendrick didn't do anything unusual while promoting it though. Gambino's music videos are the most artistically interesting out of all 3 of em, but only Kanye is doing real performative transgression.
