Economic liberalism is largely necessary, though. You have to have property rights and good contract enforcement. (And I didn't say it was necessary, just that it was partly responsible for producing it).

Not the way I define it, I guess. For me Liberal individualism is the putting of liberties (such as speech, assembly, conscience) in the protected sphere of the individual. We still have those liberties for the most part compared to most people in most places at most times..
