you do actually have an in-group. in your case (as in my case, though maybe to different degrees) it's not your ethno-racial compatriots. it's an international, inter-ethnic, internet connected in-group. if you didn't have that you'd feel the pain. total isolation is unbearable.

but I'm not in a position to do anything about it. I like to discuss it as a kind of simulation of how I might want to think and act about situations I can control. Compassionate analogies, in essence.

I think compassion includes allowing people to experience the results of their choices. By all means, advocate for less painful ways, shout it on any channels they'll listen to, make the exits available. But if they choose suffering? Yes. Shrug and walk away, until they're ready.

My perception is that a lot of those folks (maybe not >50%, but a "big chunk") don't want "awesomesause kinky sex" or "fulfilling attached relationship" or even "ebil patriarchal sexual domination" They want to whine and rage about The Bad that deprived them of nebulous better

yes, that's my impression as well. like so many SJAs and PC-police types, they wallow in their victimhood and gain perverse pleasure from having it reinforced by their dysfunctional community. That's the suffering I'd like to see ended.

I don't think that an effective intervention is doable, at least without magic Culture Minds powers, and am not even very convinced it is desirable.

I am, however, pretty sure that incels (and other exotic pathological sociopolitical groups) are not a product of society not providing them with some kind of better scaffold or whatever. If anything, I suspect society not messing with them too much is why they're mostly harmless
