the American people has already capitulated to feeling powerless to do anything about abusive military-intelligence complex things. the national security state has so completely entrenched itself and removed accountability that nobody even tries anymore.

but we have not yet capitulated to corporate hegemony. only mostly capitulated to it. there is still will to try and do something about some abuses of corporate power. the variable here is political willpower and willingness of politicians to take action.
