need some kind of typographical indicators for stuff. the lack of <sarcasm> tags is a well known example of this problem. there's lots of other "meta-semantic" (sorry, I cringed too) tags that we ought to update our typography to accommodate. the internet is serious business.
the thought that prompted this though was my desire for <meta> tags that worked the way we mean them conversationally, rather than the way they work in html as implemented (i.e. largely broken attempt at including author-suggested indices for the page).
