I've got a pretty dark series of stories involving that possibility, including getting a rusty iron nail driven through my right foot.

No, it just hurt like hell and still does when the weather is about to change. Driving iron into something is meant to keep that something in one's possession.

I have a scar in my left arm where a break was repaired with orthopedic surgery and a few stainless steel bone screws (long since removed). Also occasionally aches when the weather is about to change. Very very weird sensation. No good explanation.

was I misinterpreting your nail story though? "driven in" like intentionally? I was assuming you just stepped on it by accident.

You simply would not believe how mind-bogglingly weird my family, and subsequently my entire life is.

changeling it is then. did it have to be rusty? jeez. a clean nail should suffice.

It was a very gnarly looking beast. Red clay, rust, and iron. Not an experience I'd recommend.
