He literally just wrote a self-help book with solutions like "be precise in your speech" and "assume that the person you're listening to might know something that you need to know. become a better listener".

Look, I disagree with Peterson on a lot of stuff and don't mean to be a public defender of him. the man is human and has plenty of flaws, and he sometimes comes across like a jack-ass because of his personality. He's not a villain though. He's just a tradcon.
-
I am saying that because he is a flawed human being and is smart enough to realize it, I would expect for some one like him to realize the impact of his words. I would not call him a villain, perse. I do consider harmful, the often very personalized claims he sells as "the way".

I think it's just starting to set in now. In his more recent interviews he's addressed it directly and says that his greatest fear at the moment is screwing up and misusing his fame or miscommunicating in ways that hurt people.
-
Which is exactly my point... Peterson is smart enough to know the implications of his current viewer demographic...The reason I expect him to recognize his responsibility to properly consider his methods is because this man is obviously intelligent enough and perhaps means well.
