find it funny that "qualia" is a really popular term among rationalists despite how most of them think consciousness is an illusion like, qualia were introduced as a philosophical argument against that kind of dismissal
Dennett has argued against "the hard problem" by denying that there's any "there" there, but his position is among the most extreme in that group. He may also have a non-conventional notion of what is meant by illusion.

that's possible I still feel that most are intrinsically ignoring the Hard Problem via Yudkowsky arguments versus p-zombies. It's not that they are arguing against it, it's that they fail to even understand it's A Thing. Which makes me paranoid they really are p-zombies

yeah i feel like I changed my mind about eliminative materialism via intense depersonalisation (mental illness not drugs). psychedelics probably have a similar effect in terms of letting people understand the divide between experience and Outside
