I gather then that "middle class" means non-Black upper-working to middle-middle class. Right?

"Middle class" means everyone except for the bad poor, the poor that deserve it, and maybe criminals. About 95% of americans are "middle class," it's just ideological self-affirmation

I have known many, many people in the top 1% of income who sincerely self-identify as middle class. And a lot of our depictions of "middle class" suburban life involve houses and lifestyles that require way more $ than we want to acknowledge.

"middle class" is not named after being in the middle of the income distribution range. it's in the middle between aristocrat and peasant.
