there's a lot here of course. would love to read a write up from you on it. I don't generally think of it as not corresponding to anything in reality, but rather that the correspondence is to a nebulous meta-concept.

Thanks, this is a useful summary… I laughed when I saw ftn#1. My PhD work was intentionally & centrally a refutation of Bratman (although as far as I recall I didn’t mention him explicitly). I haven’t read Velleman, and obviously ought to before ranting any further!
