I don't normally comment on US gun stuff, 'cos not my circus, not my monkeys, but if the NRA had any sense they would be trying to come up with some solutions that are acceptable to both sides. Otherwise all the solutions will be unacceptable to them, and one will get picked.

it's a fair point, why change an approach when you're winning. But it means when they tipping point comes, they're going to get stomped hard. And their solution to that seems to be armed insurrection, which will last a week at best.

and they get away with this politically because of gerrymandered districts in deep red states where all they have to do for leverage is threaten a to fund a primary challenge on the right of the sitting house rep who votes against them.

it's broken democracy. this allows for a particularly nasty lobbying agency to apply meaningful pressure by appealing to as little as 5% of the electorate.
