This goes both ways: sometimes when someone says "the data shows <demo X> is <quality Y>", there IS an implicit "and that's a good thing" at the end!

there's also a tendency to make negative qualities subjects of intense debate and positive qualities taboo to discuss. for example, juxtapose poverty rates vs. high IQ scores
