typical scenario is like this: walk into a temple, sit for meditation, after sitting someone in a robe stands in front of the room and says "hi everyone, there will now be a meeting about checking your white privilege and then we'll serve tea and cakes"

I honestly thought original sin was a Christian doctrine. I have no idea how it made it into these Buddhist communities. Baptism seems like a more elegant solution than an ideological struggle session though.

oh, you could have just asked me for the link. I wasn't reading it for purposes of criticizing it (though I guess that's what this thread is now turning into. I was reading it to stay informed about what the discourse in that community is like.

I give them credit for at least bringing up those issues as discussion points, but it's clear where the consensus in their community has settled. Hyper-polarization infects absolutely everything in America these days.
