Once you get an ideological tattoo, you may never again change your mind. Tattoos are a tool to force psychological lock-in. Useful but dangerous

is it possible to come to disagree with your tattoo and just view it as a memento left by a past self/mind that is now dead? : ]

You can, but the tattoo greatly increases the psychological barrier for this

good point. my lone tattoo is Nietzsche's maxim "become what you are" which is hopefully sufficiently vague and non-ideological to not pose any threat : ] i also just really don't see myself ceasing to value being true to who i am (whatever that ends up meaning to me over time)

a close friend of mine also has only one tattoo, it's this quotation from Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, but in the original sanskrit, so the word translated here as "action" is karma.pic.twitter.com/uBAvBKeS5d
