which highlights an important problem in lots of communities: they haven't internalized that doubt and ignorance are actually good things. They still associate them with negative treatment, probably holdover from the way schools/churches treat people.

And if they could be convinced to give not knowing a proper tryout, they could see how utterly freeing it is. Seems to fit that pattern of people applying a property to the person rather than the action. Guess it fits together as oversimplification driven by fear of not knowing?
