you know, if @ Meaningness didnt write about the simple, human-nature topic of Meaning by unnecessarily decorating his thoughts with buzzwords and hyperlinks, maybe someone could gain actual existential relief from his blog. privileged lifestyle capitalizing on MIT, etc., creds.

there is absolutely no concern for the reader reflected in the writing. but thats okay. no writer is obligated to care for the reader, and maybe he is building castles through his own, 'innovative' usage of hyperlinks. but as a reader, the blog is impossible to navigate.

at least ribbonfarm posts are self contained and ribbonfarm itself demonstrates some self awareness (clown on fire etc etc). bleh.

I think the Eggplant stuff is easier to digest, but it doesn't strike me as a big problem. Actually, I found meaningness easier to understand and more self contained than ribbonfarm. There I have to click on all the links to figure anything out.

I didn't think it was a dumb take. I recently asked David a question that was kinda getting at the same thing and he replied that the disjointedness is a side effect of the incompleteness of the book, which he says is at less than 20% done.

I told him I think like it better as an archipelago than I would as a continent. That's the part where personal taste comes in I suppose. The big gaps make it very intriguing.

He does like his jargon though, which is David's personality coming out. That's ok though. Sometimes the exercise of translation jargon helps me understand things I wouldn't have otherwise.

Interesting! What is the exercise of translation jargon? yeah, the jargon is sometimes too much for me.

some of his jargon is self-introduced and figuring out what it means is the entire point. Nebulosity and Fluidity for example. other of the jargon is some carryover from his influences, like Heidegger or Kegan. I'm less keen to dig into Heidegger.

I'm kinda lazy and have too much to read already and not attention span to do it with, so figuring out shortcuts to understand the Heideggerian jargon enough to read the parts I do care about is an exercise for me. Worth it imo.
