I sincerely thought about quitting but decided that getting hit up for the price of a latte is not such a grave offense as to suddenly cut off the creators I'm supporting.

I hope that Patreon is able to do something re: $1 pledges though, their new policy is egregiously bad for that use case. I also think the shock of this moment is more to do with switching than with he policy itself being especially terrible. It's fine, really.

BUT they really really really ought to introduce an option for creators to opt-in pay processing fees for their pledges.

if the article is correct though they may have their hands tied and can't even offer that option if they wanted to. this seems like a particularly pernicious case of regulations not matching up with a new business model. what makes sense for credit card swipe operators work here.
