Oh please, that ignoramus has no idea what anybody is thinking ever, he has no self control whatsoever, he's probably to fits of rage, and he's easily manipulated with base flattery. Least eq of any president in our lifetime, easily.

I think you're not entirely understanding what EQ is and conflating Trump's idiotic tendencies with deficits in EQ which he does not have

Trump is impulsive, narcissistic, ignorant, and unsophisticated. None of that has any bearing on how good he is at understanding the emotional states of others and how to manipulate those emotional states.

Any accounting of Trump's political success that dismisses his talent at emotionally manipulating his supporters and his opponents is a flawed analysis.

Would that suggest that someone with a high EQ would operate well as a salesman?

It's hard to generalize, and I don't know much about what makes a good salesman. I want to say yes and from past experience, the most effective sales people at companies I've worked with did seem to me to have very high EQ.

the experience I'm referencing is me (programmer) working at B2B SaaS company and watching 90% of the sales staff not cutting it, and 10% accounting for 90% of sales. Pareto strikes again. EQ + thick skin + dogged determination seemed to be the winning formula.
