(disclaimer: I find this vile) "Maximize shareholder value" has been legally interpreted to mean the company has a fiduciary duty to pursue these tactics because they increase revenues, externalize costs, and limit liabilities.

if you owned enough shares of Comcast that might convince you. I can't even imagine what a moral (as opposed to property-based) argument would look like to support anti-social corruption, graft, and rent seeking.
