I noticed an unconscious ageist heuristic at work in whether I engage seriously/flippantly with someone online. I engage seriously if I think they are the right age to make use of a serious response, flippantly if I think they're too young (rare) or too old (common).
how old is too old? also, I sometimes have trouble telling if you're serious or not and now this makes me much more confused
