Former research mathematician here. He is correct that math is empirical, incorrect that it is a science.
empirical implies phenomenal though, right? science maybe less clearly defined but in my mind at minimum science is logical.

Math is not perceptible through the senses but it is nevertheless _objectively reproducible_. This is an unusual property!
