I am fluent in 3 cultures and can easily believe that any 2 of them were made up by the 3rd
but I think his analysis gets a lot of things right. he was just waiting for the eschaton instead of trying to make due with the real.

since he recorded those videos more and more culture has been lost, and what replaced it is not the utopia that he envisioned

"counter culture" makes sense as a rebellion against a specific culture, but the stronger claims he's making are not correct

his context was speaking out against the dominant monoculture that shaped his youth. he didn't live long enough to see that culture fall.

20 more years of accelerating towards the new dominant multiculture has made this stuff not age very well, I guess.

yeah, I'm not blaming him (and others of his era) for thinking the way that they did at the time. it just seems naive today.
