the one thing that makes this seem not complete batshittery is the abundance of evidence that Google's internal cultural is extremely totalizing and designed to produce "company people", so given that, the deeper in you go, the less ability you have to find sex outside of goog.

that's not what fidelity means. if everyone involved is upfront about being open or poly, it's not infidelity. if the expectation is monogamy, well, then yeah it is a major transgression.

fair, but I imagine there's some kind of psycho-sexual urge to "get away with it" that drives a lot of breaches of monogamy, and that these people wouldn't actually enjoy polyamory because it lacks the transgressive thrill.
Yeah, that checks out; I know poly acquaintances who have been hit on at work by someone who knew he was in a relationship, only to recoil once she realized he was going to be open and not covert about it, which baffles me, but humans, y'know.
