Luther did things like "read the Bible" and "interpret it himself" to conclude certain practices of the Church were invalid Implicit in this was the validity of one man reading and judging scripture although Luther didn't support this generally Mostly I was just making trouble

that's what Luther did but that isn't how it is connected to the contemporary Left. no, rather, it's _way_ in which he made his criticisms. Literally nailed a polemic to the doors of a church in Wittenburg demanding redress immediately. It was the prototype of "callout culture"

more broadly, Protestantism as a religious movement is based on criticizing existing institutional structures and attempting to replace them with radically different new ones. despite their outward secularism, the contemporary left is still pursuing the protestant project.
