It’s a pretty sweet deal for media outlets if they can just sit in the middle and Sayre’s law do the work of generating both supply and demand 
except it's not and there's never been so much financial pressure on media orgs as there is today.

The way I see it, Sayre’s law is basically a perpetual motion machine for this kind of content generation and consumption and media outlets have plenty of incentives to ride it all the way to the end.
