expression is important as well but is contextually different from signaling behavior. expression is something you do to communicate your interior states so that others might not you better. signaling is something you do because you want others to reward you for agreeing.

I'm not saying they _should_ behave that way, just that they do, and given that they do and we know that they do, we should account for communication acts appropriately.

I'd rather be naive and keep working towards addressing cognitive biases than be cynical and suggest that we cannot speak out for/against our beliefs.

not the first time I've been called cynical. I'm not, actually, but I am realistic. you can say anything you want. nobody is stopping you. what end does it serve? what is achieved? how will your truth interact with someone elses' lies?
