If it was me saying "a fucking polygraph?!?", then I regret nothing.

I like how Twitter was so terrified of your reply, it got hidden under a "show more tweets" banner. That's some impressive dedication to pettiness on the part of their filtering.

they try to use sentiment analysis algorithms to do this shit but they're terrible at it because irony doesn't register (to be fair, it doesnt register with a lot of humans either)

Astonishing amounts of chauvinism on the topic of how easy it (supposedly) is to model human behaviour in tech circles.

No, I don't. I work for other tech companies and the problems are just as bad, just less obvious because those companies are not should-be-commons.

We see the ridiculousness on evidence in social media because it deals the most prominently with behavior and has the most data to model off. But the madness is really everywhere.

It's not just social engineering. It's also any kind of substitution that doesn't have definable parameters that allow you to brute force learning through inhuman repetition, like Dota or Chess.

yeah. I've seen it said by people far smarter and better informed than me, that "AI" hasn't advanced much beyond where it was in 1980s except that scaling it up to huge training data corpus and supercomputing clusters produces results that were inaccessible in the 80s.

Yeah mostly stuff like that is my experience of it as well. I'm sure there's cutting-edge tech that's a lot more sophisticated. It's also not what 99% of companies are working on.
