when given an outlet to express rage in public, a huge number of people choose to do so and relish in it. what I would have never predicted is how much these people are _praised_ for their expressions of anger, hatred, and malice.

it’s stoked by a relatively small number of influential bad actors, many of whom probably have ulterior motives. I think locating it “in people’s hearts” is jumping the gun

I mostly agree with that. I think the bad actors amplify the problem by a huge margin and establish a rotten precedent that many others latch onto where they wouldn't otherwise. I do think that an enormous number of people are just angry all the time though.

This implies the rage exists independent of the medium. I’m not sure this is always the case. I wonder if it’s explained by over-socialized normies being unprepared for the ecstasy of contradicting people without shame. (Ime Sperglords wrestle with these impulses more offline.)
