And of course it sends all the data to a third-party cloud that advertisers can scrape to do analysis on fruit usage. Also, maybe this should be a box you put the avocado in, and if the avocado goes past its date the box locks and you have to throw it away.

You can accelerate avocado ripening by wrapping them in newspaper

this is not the issue. can accelerate it too by putting them in a plastic bag with a banana (or any other source of ethylene gas), or just by leaving it in the sun. the problem is TIMING. need to know when it's done ripening with precision.
