I sometimes get a glimpse of a certain style of twitter persona and I gotta tell you, it looks exhausting. Why do these people get tricked into exhausting themselves shouting into the wind? Don't you think you'll enjoy life more if you do something else?

I think I'm right about the story they tell themselves to justify their self-exhausting behavior. I might be wrong though. Just wanna throw out some healthy self-doubt while I'm analyzing others. I don't actually know for certain what they're thinking.

I think there's a real dissonance between the story they tell themselves about why they do what they do and the reality of why they do what they do. I think the reality is that they do it for social reward. I think they get high on people telling them they're doing something good

it's a really dangerous situation though. setting yourself up to feel rewarded by others telling you you're spinning a narrative that conforms to their expectations. that's a recipe for self-deception. a technicolor dreamcoat of lies.
